Planning - Comparison of Film magazine front covers

For our coursework we need to make a magazine front cover in order to promote our film. Before designing our magazine I researched into several film magazines that our available on the market. Here are some examples below:

What makes a good film magazine?

The magazines I took inspiration from include Empire and Total Film. From these "professional" magazines it is clear that there are several standards that are present in order to make a defining front cover magazine. The following traits are present in many film magazines:

From both these magazines we can see one very bold and defining image. This immediately grabs the eye of the target audience as it stands out from other magazines.

Titles

Large bold titles that stand out. This allows the reader to see what else is in the magazine as well as catching there eye.
